The Wizard was a movie released in 1989. It was a story of a boy and his younger brother going across the US, on their way to a massive NES Competition in LA. Along the way they practice and play popular NES Games, Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man 2, etc. Anyway, at the end of the movie the 3 finalists compete at Super Mario Bros. 3. At that time the game hadn't been released yet. And putting it in the movie was a way to get people in to see the movie, as well as promote the movie. The movie wasn't a big success, but it did way better than it would have without SMB3 footage. Anyway, here is some screenshots from the movie of the SMB3 footage.  The movie has been released on DVD, so if you want to check it out, you can get the DVD. Besides all the cool old-school Nintendo Scenes to watch, it actually has a pretty decent plot. You'll also get to see a young Fred Savage and Christian Slater. :P |
